The district's residents are being warned to be on their guard against rogue tradesman who are exploiting weather-damaged households.
Workmen are scouring neighbourhoods for vulnerable victims, offering to repair wind-ruined roofs and chimneys, according to the Consumer Direct help line.
Graham Hebblethwaite, West Yorkshire's Chief Trading Standards Officer, said: "Simply taking up offers from workmen who appear on your doorstep will not guarantee that you receive a good standard of workmanship at a satisfactory price."
West Yorkshire Police and Trading Standards are establishing cold calling zones', complete with identifiable signs, to give residents the confidence to say no to uninvited traders.
Bradford residents can use the Home Services Directory to identify Trading Standards approved traders.
