Iestyn Harris has delivered a big thumbs-up following his comeback from injury.

The Bulls stand-off played more than an hour of Sunday's friendly at Hull KR and later reported no reaction to his troubled knee.

Harris had undergone major surgery in October to rectify a long-running problem and was doubtful for the start of Super League XII.

But the Welsh maestro returned to the fray early at Craven Park and eased through the test to hand boss Steve McNamara a timely boost.

Harris said: "The knee felt pretty good. I didn't really go into the game too aggressively, and played away from the line a bit, but I did get a little bit of contact on the knee, defensively more than anything.

"It was a little bit sore immediately afterwards but that was always expected and it was good to get out there."

Harris, 30, is not expected to feature when the Bulls visit Wakefield this Sunday and is more likely to appear in the club's final friendly at Keighley the following Friday.

Progress is positive and he explained: "I'm about three weeks ahead of schedule. I trained fully in Lanzarote last week, so wanted to try and play at Hull.

"I've done that and now I'll have another two-week break from action, get some more work in on the training field and then should be okay for the start of the season.

"It's all coming along nicely and it was good to get that match under my belt."

Meanwhile, Academy prop Anthony Tonks - who was not taken to Lanzarote - has turned down the chance to join National League One newcomers Dewsbury in favour of fighting for a place at Grattan Stadium.
