A 20-year-old man is fighting for his life after a car somersaulted into a field.
The victim was the front seat passenger in a black Volkswagen Golf which went out of control on the A65 near Ilkley last Saturday night.
The car, which was travelling in the direction of Otley, left the road in Coutances Way, 200 metres from the junction with Wheatley Lane, overturned and came to rest in a field.
The 20-year-old, of Ilkley, was seriously injured and last night was described as being in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary.
A second passenger, a man who also lives locally, was detained in Airedale General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Monday on suspicion of dangerous driving and was in police custody.
The accident happened shortly before 11pm and witnesses are asked to contact PC 1694 Harding, of Keighley roads policing unit, on (01535) 617059.
