A party with a pirate theme organised by students at Yorkshire Martyrs Catholic College in Tong raised more than £180 to help local skin cancer sufferers.

The event was the idea of student 14-year-old Leanne Stourton, whose grandma Linda Gardner, 57, has battled malignant melanoma for three years.

Mrs Gardner, of Woodside, Bradford, launched a fundraising drive last year to raise money for the Bradford, Airedale and Wharfedale Dermatology Trust, a charity which was set up to improve care for local skin cancer patients.
