A lycra-clad editor will get on his bike to raise money for the Lord Mayor of Bradford's Appeal.
Malcolm Hoddy, editor of the Keighley News, a sister paper of the Telegraph & Argus, is joining a team of cyclists who will be pounding their pedals for 314 miles on an epic trip from Bradford to Hamm in Germany.
The four-day ride will raise money for Councillor Choudhary Rangzeb's appeal that is supporting the Born in Bradford Project, which charts the health of the district's children, and the Bradford Sports and Recreation Association for people with disabilities.
Mr Hoddy said: "This was a good excuse for me to put my lycra on. I am really looking forward to the trip but it is going to be hard work."
Coun Rangzeb said: "I am truly delighted that Malcolm has signed up to take part. I think he is a fantastic sport."
Meanwhile another event is hoped to add even more coffers to the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
A karaoke night is being held on Friday at the Lister Mansion Hotel in North Park Road Heaton.
There will also be a raffle at the event and so far prizes have been donated by Empire Electrical, the Mumtaz Restaurant and Cannons Healthclub.
