TWO sporty boys have followed in the Brownlee brothers' footsteps by taking part in their first triathlon to raise £500 for a children's hospice.
Josh Jones and Ben Rees, both aged 10, competed in a triathlon at Castle Howard in York. They completed a 200-metre open water swim, followed by a four kilometre bike ride, finished off with a 2km run.
The Eldwick Primary School pupils were raising funds for Martin House Hospice, in Wetherby, which supports their friend, Grace Hitchens, nine, who has a rare life-limiting condition called Niemann Pick Type C, a neuro degenerative condition.
The boys are both from Bingley and members of Bingley Harriers - as are Olympic and Commonwealth Games triathlon stars Alistair and Jonny Brownlee.
Josh's mother, Emma Jones, said: "I'm very proud of them. They both completed the triathlon in around 40 minutes.
"They've got the bug for it and they really enjoyed it. It was the first time they have done a triathlon."
