Wibsey joined the five other County Amateur League sides in the quarter-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup with a 3-2 victory over West Yorkshire Premier Division outfit Howden Clough.

After two postponements on their opponents' ground, Wibsey were due to stage the game at their Westwood Park ground.

The pitch was unplayable due to the midweek rain so it was agreed to switch the game to the all-weather ground at Batley Sports Centre to avoid a fixture pile-up for both sides.

Wibsey adapted quickly to the artificial surface and with strikes from Chris Wood and Darryl Leach built up a 2-0 half-time advantage.

Lee Padgett reduced the arrears at the start of the second half but Wibsey did not allow their opponents to get back into the game and Nicky Bushell soon restored Wibsey's two-goal advantage.

With victory in their sights, Danny Cooper pegged Wibsey back to 3-2 to ensure a tense finish.

Only three Mumtaz Premier Division games were possible.

Last season's champions Bay Athletic could have dislodged Tyersal (whose game at Storthes Hall was a called off) out of second place with victory over Hall Green United but they had to settle for a point with a 1-1 draw.

Ovenden West Riding moved into fourth place above Storthes Hall and Wibsey after goals from Andy Hurcombe, Steve Fullard, James Greenwood and John Collins gave them a 4-0 victory.

Halifax Irish were also 4-0 winners, at Hemsworth Miners Welfare.

Halifax took full advantage of the Miners having their goalkeeper sent off after only ten minutes.

No games were possible in Divisions One and Two and only two games managed to beat the weather in the Reserve Division, where leaders Farnley extended their unbeaten start to the season to 13 matches with a 3-2 success at Kirkburton. Salts crashed 4-1 at Ardsley Celtic.

The Bradford & District FA Saturday Senior Cup game between Salts and Campion was postponed and has been rescheduled for February 17.
