A petrol station was evacuated and a road closed after reports of leaking propane gas.
Firefighters were called to the Brobot Filling Station, in Halifax Road, Keighley, where they made safe the scene until an installation engineer arrived.
Firefighters stood by in case of an explosion or possible fire.
A fire service spokesman said: "It was a dangerous situation, there was a large quantity of propane gas involved.
"We made the area safe until the arrival of the installation engineer. As soon as he said it was okay the road was opened."
The engineer attended in the early hours of today after the alarm was raised about two hours earlier at 10.41pm on Sunday.
The incident is under investigation.
