Conservative members of Bradford Council gathered in Ilkley for an interactive policy session aimed at fine-tuning the group's approach to some of the key challenges facing the district.

The centrepiece of Saturday's event at the Craiglands Hotel was a series of three debates on education, climate change and regeneration.

These were led by Tong High School head teacher Lyn O'Reilly, Dr Peter Hopkinson from the Bradford University Ecoversity programme, and Andrew Mason, managing director of Shipley-based Newmason Properties, who had been invited to speak.

Conservative group leader Councillor Kris Hopkins said: "The Conservative-led Council is extremely determined to ensure the district fulfils its huge economic potential but, for that to happen, we must be confident we are taking all the right decisions in the most crucial areas."
