Skipton firefighters rescued two ramblers who sank up to their waists in thick mud at East Marton.
The crew used manpower and fence panels to free the pair, in their 40s, after they became trapped in a mire while walking near the Leeds/Liverpool canal on Saturday.
A fire service spokesman said both men were unhurt.
