Councillors are planning to hold talks over plans for a £100,000 cafe in a town.
Councillor Michael Powell, Denholme's deputy mayor, is set to meet with a district councillor to discuss the scheme.
Concerns have been raised over funding for keeping the cafe going once the initial money is used.
Coun Powell said: "I'm meeting with Councillor Margaret Eaton about the issue and how we can take it forward."
The cafe is due to open on two nights a week.
But Coun Powell said: "That's not suitable for what we are trying to do. It needs a three to five-year business plan."
