One of the district's schools is among the first 50 in the country to win an award for its expertise with money.
South Craven School, at Cross Hills, has been awarded the Financial Management Standard in Schools certificate by the Government.
The school's financial team, led by bursar David Birks, had to complete an online evaluation and provide evidence files.
The team passed first time after satisfying auditors from the Department for Education and Skills.
The Government hopes all schools will eventually achieve the standard, which recognises financial competence.
The standard assesses leadership, people management, partnerships, policy and strategy, and aims to help schools manage resources more effectively and increase their value for money.
