A young thug diced with death by facing off against an oncoming train and hurling a missile at it.
He was spotted jumping on and off the railway tracks at Saltaire station before standing in front of the approaching 8.56pm Leeds and Skipton train, causing the driver to hit the emergency brakes.
British Transport Police officers believe he was one of a group seen hanging around the station.
As the train got nearer the youth stepped between the two tracks, narrowly missing a train coming the other way. He ran around the train, got back on the platform and hurled what is thought to be a bottle at the train, breaking a window.
British Transport Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who may help identify the youth to contact them in strict confidence. They are particularly trying to track a female who provided the youth's name to the train guard before leaving the station at Saltaire. The incident occurred between 9pm and 9.10pm on Tuesday, January 16.
