Foundation Trust members of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be able to stand for election as governors when the call for nominations is formally made on Wednesday, January 24.

The Trust is looking to elect governors to nine seats within the public constituency (Bradford North, Bradford South, Bradford West, Shipley and Keighley), four seats within the staff constituency and two seats within the patient constituency. Governors at the foundation trust have a range of duties that will help shape the future direction of healthcare at both Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke's Hospital.

David Richardson, chairman of the Trust said: "Our Board of Governors have a very important contribution to make at the Foundation Trust.

"They are here to make sure that the interests of our public, patients, staff and partners are represented at the highest level and this is done through their statutory obligations, as laid down within our constitution."

Nomination packs, with information about how to stand for election, are available from January 24, by calling 0870 707 1532. Information sessions will also take place at the foundation trust.

Nomination papers must be received by February 8 and the results will be announced on March 21.

The new Board of Governors will take effect in April 2007.
