The only Bradford Sunday Alliance League Premier Division team in action was Silsden, who showed their class by thrashing First Division Eccleshill United 6-0 at Plumpton Park in the delayed West Riding County Sunday Senior Cup.

The game went ahead following an early-morning pitch inspection, and the top-flight high-fliers gave their depleted hosts a footballing lesson.

They stormed into a four-goal lead by the interval before the home team missed a chance to get back into the match early in the second half when Andy Philps hit a penalty high and wide.

Playing with the wind in the first half, Silsden took full advantage of the conditions, with Dale Hoyle hitting a brace and Adam Whiteoak netting.

An own goal from Graham Moviatt completed the first-half scoring.

Eccleshill came more into the game in the second half with the wind in their favour.

But the penalty miss from Philps ended any realistic chance of getting back into the game and Silsden made them pay with two further goals from Whiteoak, who completed his hat-trick.

Eccleshill goalkeeper Lee Dane was fortunate to stay on the field after he brought down a Silsden forward when he appeared to be the last defender but the referee only gave him a yellow card.

Eccleshill will get their chance for revenge when the two sides meet again in the league cup next month.

Meanwhile, Silsden join fellow Alliance side Ring O' Bells Shipley and Oakenshaw in the quarter-finals of the Sunday Senior Cup.

The wet weather prevented any fixtures from going ahead in the top four leagues of the Sunday Alliance. The only two games to beat the elements were in Division 2B and Division Four.

Buttershaw Open Age moved into joint top spot in Division 2B with Allerton thanks to a 3-2 win at Idle.

Nicky Boshell was in good form and managed to get on the scoresheet twice, while other scorers were Matty Penn and John Richardson.

Allerton remain favourites for the title as they have a game in hand.

Division Four leaders Bradford Youth added another scalp to their growing list with a convincing 8-2 victory over mid-table Bradford Lions.

Qasim Shaffiq was in lethal form, netting a hat-trick for the home side.

Strikes from Imran Fazil, Waheed Khan, Rizwan Ali, Nisar Khan and Ismail Khan added to the tally as Youth opened up an eight-point lead at the top.

Having won all their 13 games, they are one of only two teams in the Alliance still to have a 100 per cent record, Buttershaw White Star being the other side in Division One.
