Crag Road United made the most of the opportunity to steal a march on their promotion rivals with a 2-0 victory over Hemsworth Miners Welfare in Mumtaz Division Two.

Their game was one of only two County Amateur games played in the Bradford district on a day which saw only nine league games and three cup ties go ahead due to the weather.

Crag wasted a early opportunity to take the lead when Jonathon Hick had a penalty saved by the visiting keeper. But with six successive victories behind them, Crag stepped up the pace in the second half and opened the scoring through Chris McMahon.

United were awarded a second penalty which was taken this time by Shaun Firth who made no mistake in scoring the vital second goal.

A further boost for Crag was news that league leaders Brighouse Town Reserves had been held to a 1-1 draw at home to Tyersal Reserves.

Glen Hall scored for Town after Jamie McEwen had given Tyersal the early advantage.

Dynamoes had their pitch at East Bierley declared fit for play but they were second best against a Storthes Hall side. Goals from Alex Slack, Danny Langford and Mike Turner saw the visitors run out 3-0 winners.

Heckmondwike Town and Dudley Hill Rangers stay in the two relegation places. Despite two second-half goals through Jamie Pollard, Town were unable to overturn a 3-0 half-time deficit at Marsden and a further goal from the hosts saw them lose 4-2.

Dudley Hill Rangers fared little better. Visiting Wakefield City, they returned pointless after losing 2-0.

Brighouse Town completed the double over Hall Green United in the only top-flight game played.

That opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier Division over second-placed Tyersal, whose game at home to Bay Athletic was one of the postponed fixtures.

Jason Tiplady netted twice in the first ten minutes to give Town a 2-0 success.

Farnley Reserves remain the only side in the league yet to be defeated.

They extended their unbeaten run to 12 games with a 3-2 Reserve Division home win over Keighley Shamrocks.

Salts Reserves moved into the top half of the table with a 2-1 success at Steeton, Mark Robinson and Damian Mitchell scoring for Salts, while Chris Turner was on target for the hosts.

Wibsey's West Riding County FA Challenge Cup tie against Howden Clough was postponed for the second successive time.

That means the sides will try again on Saturday at Wibsey's Westwood Park ground.

Wibsey will have a bigger incentive to win after seeing their possible opponents Storthes Hall become the fifth side from the league into the last eight of the competition. Hall beat Beeston St Anthony's 5-4.
