Steve Schumacher today stressed: We're still 100 per cent behind the gaffer.

City begin a run of three home games out of four tomorrow when they face Swansea at the Intersonic Stadium.

And Colin Todd will be aiming to follow last week's win at Port Vale with a healthy haul of points to turn down the heat on his own position.

Some fans have been calling for the manager's head in recent matches - but Schumacher insists he still has the full backing of the dressing room.

"It's absolute nonsense to think we're not playing for him," he said.

"You only had to look at the Port Vale game and the last ten minutes when the lads were putting their bodies on the line, throwing themselves in the way, blocking shots and sticking together.

"You saw at the end how made up we all were to have got the win which we needed. We know the manager's under a bit of pressure and no-one likes to see that."

The midfielder hopes that City's first win in five games will make for a more positive atmosphere at Valley Parade tomorrow. Schumacher admits the team hate to hear the fans booing. He added: "It does your head in to hear that at home. You want to do well for everyone involved, the gaffer, the lads and our fans and it's frustrating if people think you don't care.

"If some fans think we're not putting the effort in, then it's very frustrating. If we weren't trying or giving it 100 per cent then they would have every right to complain but I don't think they can honestly say that.

"I hate losing as much as anyone but you will have games when you play below par. I'd love to play 46 great games a season but that just doesn't happen, however everyone still keeps trying.

"We haven't changed anything in our approach to games from September when we were flying - it's not a case that we can't be bothered.

"But the gaffer will feel pressure if the results aren't there and it's down to us to start taking our chances."

Schumacher believes the performance at Carlisle on New Year's Day, when City bossed the game without scoring, was a turning point. And after pocketing three points at Vale, he is relishing the prospect of facing the high-flying Swans.

"We've got some good sides coming up like Swansea and Tranmere and that's a good thing. There's nothing worse than playing a team who come for a 0-0 and frustrate you - it's so boring.

"But I can't see Swansea sitting back. Teams aren't there to make it easy for you but I think they will come to attack us, which will play into our hands a little bit.

"We look a half-decent side when we pass the ball about and attack teams.
