Dean Windass left Carlos Logan in no doubt about what City expect from their newest loan capture.

The left winger, signed for a month from Darlington, walked into the changing room to be told: "You'd better get some crosses in immediately."

And the 21-year-old is confident he can oblige if he gets the nod to start straight away against Swansea tomorrow.

Logan said: "The gaffer said he needed a left-sider in the squad and this is a good chance for me. I'm quick and like to play direct and hopefully I can be an asset for the team.

"I know I can play at this level because I've done it before at Chesterfield. Obviously it's a better standard than League Two but it's not that different and I coped well.

"I was going to sign for Chesterfield last year but it was taking too long and Darlington offered me the better deal.

"I played most of the games last season but then had a double hernia operation which kept me out. Since then I've not started many.

"The manager at Darlington brought in a few older players because he wanted a bit of experience and the new boss hasn't really changed the team yet.

"So I thought it was best to get out while I can and get a few games under my belt."

Colin Todd will not reveal whether Logan, who chose City over a loan move to Stockport, is in his starting line-up but he has no qualms about the youngster making the step-up.

The City boss said: "It doesn't matter where you bring players in from if you feel that they have the talent and ability. A lot of people will be pleasantly surprised.

"He's been brought up the right way at Man City and knows the game well for a youngster. Coming to us will hopefully give him a little spark that he's been missing."

Todd will wait as long as possible on Jermaine Johnson, who rates his own chances as no more than "50-50" to recover in time from his hamstring injury. The flying Jamaican has not been able to train since limping off at Port Vale.

But Windass is back from his ban as City square up to opponents that Todd rates very highly.

"I believe Swansea are the best team in the division and I think they will get automatic promotion," he said.

"They have a good squad in depth, which is the key to everything, and have some money to spend. Swansea are also coming off a fantastic win at Sheffield United in the FA Cup, which will give them good heart.

"We're certainly the underdogs but we will relish the task ahead. Swansea will tell you we have some very good players here as well."
