Colin Todd has solved City's left-sided headache by signing Carlos Logan from Darlington on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old winger was meeting up with his new team today for training and could go straight into the squad for Saturday's home clash with high-flying Swansea.

Logan is a former Manchester City trainee and Todd said: "He is a highly thought of youngster, a very tenacious boy and a natural left-sider, which is what we need.

"I've seen him play quite a bit and I think he can do a good job for us. I had others lined up but they didn't happen but I am pleased we've got Carlos in."

Todd had targeted other wingers from clubs in both the Premiership and Championship and had discussed bringing back Tommy Black from Crystal Palace but his rib injury has still not fully healed.

Meanwhile, Eddie Johnson has set his sights on facing Tranmere next week.

The injury-hit City striker, pictured, hopes to be given the all-clear to start training with the rest of the squad on Monday.

And he has not ruled out the possibility of being fit enough to be back in Todd's plans for the game at Prenton Park a week tomorrow.

Johnson is recovering from shin splints, which has forced him to miss the last five games since hobbling off at half-time in the win over Chesterfield a month ago.

It has meant a frustrating wait for the 22-year-old forward, who is desperate to get going after a stop-start first season in a City shirt since signing last summer.

Johnson, who has scored four goals, said: "It's very disappointing with the games going on and not being able to get involved.

"It's a bad month to have been out because of the number of games but you can't help getting injured.

"The annoying thing is that I had started getting a run in the side and felt like my form was more consistent. But hopefully, when I am fit to play again, I can carry on from where I left off before the injury."
