Campaigners wanting to keep a dementia ward at Airedale Hospital, Steeton, collected 1,200 signatures in Keighley.
The names were gathered outside the market hall by members of Ward 24 Carers’ Action Group.
They were helped by councillors Doreen Lee, Adrian Farley, Malcolm Slater and Keith Dredge.
Above, Yara Miller adds her name to the petition for Coun Lee.
The Rev David Griffiths, chairman of the action group, said: “We collected 1,200 signatures in three hours.
“People told us of their gratitude at their loved ones being cared for on Ward 24.”
Bradford District Care Trust wants to move the ward to Lynfield Mount Hospital in Daisy Hill, Bradford, saying it will provide better care.
Mr Griffiths added: ”We plan to take the petition to Ilkley, Skipton and Settle over the next few weeks.”
