A dad-of-one from Idle has raised money for a children’s charity by climbing 522 steps over 32 floors in just four minutes and 47 seconds.

Jamie McDougall, who is 38 and works at a car clinic, took part in the Great Yorkshire stair climb at Bridgewater Place in Leeds.

He finished 32nd out of 97 and raised £90 for Bradford Royal Infirmary’s children’s hospital trust.

“I have a young child myself who may need their care and support one day,” he said.

The event was run by Anytime Fitness based in Leeds who collected registration fees for the event which were then donated to the Yorkshire Cancer Trust.
