The funeral will be held this afternoon of a restaurant manager who died following a dispute with a customer over the bill.

Mohammed Asif, from the Bolton area of Bradford, collapsed following an argument at the Manchester branch of Akbar's, on Friday night.

The 45-year-old had worked for Akbar’s since it started in the 1990s.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "At 10.45pm on Friday police were called following a dispute at a restaurant on Liverpool Road in Manchester city centre.

"After the dispute a man in his 40s collapsed. He was rushed to hospital, however he sadly died.

"Police are investigating the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death.

"A 37-year-old man remains in police custody for questioning."

A post mortem examination was unable to identify a cause of death, it has been reported.
