A councillor has had the chop in the name of charity.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw (Lab, Windhill and Wrose) visited a hairdresser for the first time since he was 15 to raise money for Cancer Support Bradford and Airedale.
He said: “I’ve had long hair since I was a teenager and it’s been thinning at the front for a couple of years now. It’s got to the point where it’s too much of a pain to put up with. Most people can’t tell because I’m so tall but I notice it every time I pass a mirror.”
Last year Coun Ross-Shaw grew a moustache for Movember.
“Seeing as I’m getting hair cut off this year, rather than growing it, I thought it was good to stick with supporting a cancer charity and I’d helped Bradford Cancer Support a couple of years ago getting a clothes bin placed in Shipley when I was standing as a council candidate there. I know they do really good work and I wanted to support a local charity,” he said.
