Songs about love and loss in the Ukraine made for emotional scenes when a London-based acting group came to Bradford.
Entelechy Arts, a company of older actors from Deptford in south-east London, visited the Ukrainian Centre on Legrams Lane as part of an itinerary that also included stop-offs at City Hall and Forster’s Bistro.
They tucked into a traditional Ukrainian dish of cheese dumplings and listened to Ukrainian music played on an accordion.
Members of the Ukrainian Centre also sang songs about their homeland, involving tales of war and occupation, love and loss.
The visit was organised by Bradford-based Freedom Studio and was part of research and development for a project called Home Sweet Home, where artists work with groups of older people in Bradford and London throughout a year.
