A man suffered burns to his hip and arm after setting fire to his clothing at a flat in Bradford. Fire crews from Fairweather Green and Bradford stations were called to the property on Fairbank Terrace, Girlington, at 5.10pm last night.

A fire service spokesman said the man, 48, had set fire to his top and then tried to put it out with water. He man let firefighters into the flat. The spokesman said the flat was very smoky inside and that there were some minor burns to the carpet. The man was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for treatment.
