A taxi driver who had part of his ear bitten off in an attack is angered that the only man to be prosecuted has walked free from court.

Father-of-three Mohammed Zameer says he is still looking for justice 18 months after he was set upon by three passengers in Wibsey.

The attack left him scarred and too traumatised to go back to work for nine months.

He was repeatedly punched in the assault in May 2005, and one of his attackers bit off a large chunk of his left ear.

Earlier this week, Lee Webster, 23, was sentenced to 51 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, for causing Mr Zameer grievous bodily harm.

An angry Mr Zameer, who was in court, said: "That is no sentence at all. Somebody should go to jail for this.

"Half my ear is gone. I needed plastic surgery in January to reconstruct it but it is still a lot smaller and I have shooting pains."

Mr Zameer, of Allerton, Bradford, said he had not slept since he attended Bradford Crown Court. Judge Roger Scott made Webster, of Egremont Crescent, Woodside, the subject of a supervision order and he must pay £350 court costs. There was no order for compensation.

Webster, who had no co-accused, pleaded guilty to the charge on October 30.

The court heard he and two other men got into Mr Zameer's taxi outside the Windmill pub in Wibsey.

The trio's noisy behaviour forced the cabbie to pull over and tell them to get out. It was then that one bit into Mr Zameer's ear.

The court heard Webster, who was not accused of being the biter, joined in the attack.

Mr Zameer said: "No-one has been properly punished for causing me this injury.

"I am very disappointed. Not one of the three involved in the attack has gone to prison.

"I still feel scared when I am told to pick up a group of lads. I live in fear of another attack. On Monday I walked away feeling justice had not been done."
