Dejected Colin Todd summed up City's FA Cup agony at Millwall by admitting: We deserved to win 3-0 not lose.

The Bantams dominated last night's second-round replay but were dumped by a disputed Nathan Doyle own goal three minutes from the end of extra-time.

Doyle, who appeared to be fouled by Alan Dunne, and Steve Schumacher both hit the bar as Todd's side were left cursing a string of missed chances.

"Football is a cruel game," said Todd. "I thought our play was absolutely superb apart from the finishing.

"But as a manager I can't ask for any more than they gave - apart from a three-goal win which we honestly deserved.

"The players have all been brilliant and we just didn't have Lady Luck on our side.

"But the performance must have delighted every Bradford supporter who was there.

"I still believe the goal was a foul because Nathan was pushed in the back. He couldn't do anything else but head the ball that way - unfortunately that's how it's going at the moment."

It was City's third blank in the space of 12 days against the Lions - the equivalent of five hours of trying.

Todd added: "Jermaine Johnson could have scored one of the goals of the season and should have done; Dean Windass had opportunities; we've hit the woodwork twice and there have been other chances.

"It's more than disappointing when you do play as well as that because you deserve to win the game.

"We should applaud the supporters that came down and I think we gave them something to cheer, apart from a victory we deserved.

"That's three times in London in a week and we deserved to lose on Saturday but not last night.

"I'm very disappointed we haven't got into a third-round tie against Stoke. We worked our backsides off to try and get some money into the football club that would have been very welcome."
