A Keighley mosque could soon undergo a major refurbishment to deal with its growing number of worshippers.
Plans have been submitted for alterations to the interior of the Shah Jalal Jame Mosque on Temple Row that would see its under-utilised upper floor used for wor-ship.
Partition walls and corridors would be demolished to open up the space.
A listed building consent application to Bradford Council says: “During the Friday congregational prayer, Eid and other special occasions the main prayer hall downstairs together with what space they can use upstairs cannot accommodate the current overall number of worshippers.”
A number of pews on the first floor will be removed.
