Bradford-born former England cricket star Anthony McGrath inspired children during a special coaching session.
The visit by the former all-rounder and Yorkshire captain to Newhall Park Primary School in Bierley rounded off a six-week cricket project.
The sports star talked about ‘the spirit of cricket’ in a special assembly, then led a coaching session with Year Six pupils.
PE teacher Jonathan Elstub said it was a great way to mark the end of the course, which had been led by community sports coach Aaron Brook.
He said: “Anthony McGrath was really good with the children – he was really down-to-earth and funny.
“I think the kids respected him even more because he was from East Bierley Cricket Club and he’s like a local hero, with us being on the Bierley estate.”
