Staff at a boatyard used two lorries in a bid to pull a digger from the Leeds and Liverpool Canal today.
It is thought the vehicle rolled down a slipway into the water and a crowd of about 20 people watched as workers recovered it at Hainsworths Boat Transport, off Fairfax Road, Bingley.
One onlooker said: “It’s a JCB that’s run into the water down the slip path. There’s about five or six people trying to get it out with a tractor.”
Staff at the boatyard eventually managed to winch the digger out of the water by mid afternoon.
