A team set up to fight doorstep crime is using theatre to spread its message.
The SAFER (Scams and Fraud Education for Residents) project, run by West Yorkshire Trading Standards, has teamed up with West North West Homes as part of their community involvement week and provided an afternoon of doorstep crime awareness.
Residents from sheltered housing complexes across North West Leeds attended Yeadon Town Hall and were treated to a show performed by the Feel Good Theatre Company. The light-hearted show carries a serious message, as it focuses on cold callers and how to deal with them.
Councillor Bill Urry, of the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Committee, said: “The theatre show sends a message to residents about staying safe when dealing with cold callers and raises the profile of doorstep crime without raising the fear of crime.”
