Householders are being warned about leaving their doors open after a burglary on Beacon Road, Wibsey.
The offender entered the house through an open door on Thursday when the occupant had gone to see the next door neighbour for two minutes. When the occupant returned he saw a man who left in a vehicle.
He is white, 50, 5ft 7in, stocky, with a scruffy black beard and wearing a jacket . He had an Irish accent.
He drove off in a small white or yellow van with red and yellow chevrons on the rear doors. The vehicle is believed to be on false plates. The registration was similar to YR57 and possibly had an X in it.
