A former detective superintendent with the murder squad in Bradford has been appointed Assistant Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.
Paul Kennedy will have responsibility for criminal investigations and operations, firearms support, community policing and roads policing in his new role with the North Yorkshire force.
Mr Kennedy was a senior investigating officer, based in Bradford, with the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team between 2005 and 2008, when he joined Cumbria Police.
During his time in Bradford he led investigations into the Ilkley Moor sex attacker, David Newton, who beat a woman and left her for dead as she walked her dogs, and the murder of popular dad Andrew Ayres by a drunken gang outside the King’s Head pub in Halifax Road, Bradford.
