A new patients’ body is urging people in Bradford with concerns about health care to contact them in the wake of a damning report into 14 health trusts investigated over high mortality rates.

Healthwatch Bradford and Districts said that although no trusts in the district were involved in The Keogh Review report released yesterday, it demonstrated that there were broader problems in the NHS than those highlighted at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Problems at that trust led to a national review, led by NHS England medical director Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, who attacked some of the trusts for serious care failings. Eleven were being put into special measures.

A spokesman for Healthwatch Bradford and District said: “The report makes it very clear the best source of intelligence is always from those at the frontline – patients and staff.

“Healthwatch want to make it easier for people to speak out about the services that matter to them and to ensure their voices are listened to by those who plan, run and regulate services.”

Andrew Jones, manager of Healthwatch Bradford and District, said: “We know that our local trusts deliver excellent care to most people, and in light of the report we look forward to building on our good relationships with trusts across Bradford and Airedale and working together to improve services and ensure people’s views are listened to.”
