One of the country’s top midwives is holding a workshop at Airedale Hospital tomorrow before helping to open a new maternity unit.
Cathy Warwick, chief executive of the Royal College of Midwives, will speak about normal births and the challenges and opportunities for midwives in the UK.
Midwives who work in the community and in hospitals are able to attend the session, which takes place between 10.30am and 12.30pm in the lecture theatre, in the hospital’s education centre.
Following the talk, Mrs Warwick will be joined by mum-to-be and Look North weather girl, Lisa Gallagher, to official open the new midwifery led maternity unit at 1.30pm.
She said: “I am thrilled to be invited to open the new unit. This is an addition which I am sure will be welcomed by women in the area because it offers them more choice about how and where they give birth.”
