Two community groups have been shortlisted for the chance to receive grants from Skipton Building Society through its Grassroots Giving fund.
Sponge Tree in Shipley is looking for funding to provide adult and child outdoor nature sessions in local woodland, while Karmand Sports in Bradford has also applied for cash to provide sports and social activities.
Mohammed Shakeel, secretary of Karmand Sports, said: “We want to bring the community together
". Through our matches we believe that this can happen as it is a place where everyone, even people from the wider community, can attend, watch the match and socialise with others that they may have not thought of socialising with before.”
There is still time for other community groups to apply for grants for £500, which are being given away by the building society in its 160th year.
The closing date is July 31 and groups can apply via skiptonbig160.co.uk.
From August, the public will vote for the shortlisted community groups, to decide which 160 will get the funding.
