A second scarecrow festival and open gardens day will be held in Long Lee and Thwaites Brow.

The event on Sunday, July 21, will see three gardens open from 1pm. The fee is £1 to view all gardens and teas will be served in the village hall, where there will be free parking.

The event is being organised by Long Lee and Thwaites Brow Village Society. Society spokesman June Keeler said groups or individuals were welcome to enter scarecrows on any theme.

She said: “Last year we had 11 scarecrows and so far we have only four, so we could do with some encouragement.”
