A team of adventurous drivers and navigators are attempting an epic road trip for charity.

They are aiming to clock up more than 2,000 miles to reach the four corners of Britain this week.

The challenge is being carried out by staff from the Sunwin Motors group, a chain of car dealerships based in Thornton Road, Bradford.

Seven teams have set off in seven vehicles from the group's showrooms across Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Midlands.

The journey from the Bradford headquarters to Durness, John O'Groats, Lands Ends, Dover, and back to Bradford, is expected to take them three days.

Sponsored by customers, suppliers and other business partners, the teams hope to raise more than £10,000 for charity.

Sunwin general manager Tony Guest said: "Each year, as part of United Co-operatives, we raise awareness and money for our chosen national charity, which this year is Diabetes UK, and for local charities, including West Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Overgate Hospice at Elland, and When You Wish Upon a Star in Nottingham.

"What better way for a motor group to support these worthwhile causes than hitting the road on a marathon driving expedition?" The seven challenge vehicles are a Renault, Nissan, Peugeot, Mazda, Fiat, Hyundai and Land Rover, representing each manufacturer represented by Sunwin Motors and Farnell Land Rover at its 21 northern dealerships.

A treat for Land Rover enthusiasts will be the sight of the new Freelander 2 travelling the length and breadth of the country before its official launch on December 7.

Mr Guest said: "Significant sponsorship has also been pledged by a number of our business partners and by customers who have given support directly at our dealerships and through the post.

"We believe our chosen charities have a huge impact on the lives of people they help and we would like to raise as much money for them as we possibly can."
