There are hopes that Bingley Music Live will be the “most vibrant ever” by getting cabaret performers and traders in on the action.

Bradford Council wants stallholders and acts to get involved in the three-day festival, which will be held in Myrtle Park from Friday, August 30, until Sunday, September 1.

Following the first line-up announcement of Primal Scream, The Cribs and The Wonder Stuff, the Council is inviting stallholders selling unique produce and family-friendly walkabout acts to apply for a spot. Eight pitches are available for traders offering bespoke non-food products and 15 minute slots are available to walkabout, comedy and cabaret acts.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member responsible for leisure, said: "We want to make this year’s Bingley Music Live more vibrant than ever before and would encourage local non-food traders and performers to apply to be part of this fantastic event.”

Bingley councillor David Heseltine (Con) said: “It gives an opportunity for Bingley to get some benefits from the festival.”

Howard Martin, president of Bingley Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said he hoped town centre businesses would also take advantage of the extra trade from the festival. He said while cafes, pubs and take-aways benefited from the extra footfall the event brought to Bingley, shops could do more.

“Everybody who goes into the park has to come through the town centre. That’s where the railway station and nearest bus stops are and it’s getting those people to perhaps stop and maybe buy something,” he said.

Applicants with a BD postcode will initially be considered before applications are opened up to the Yorkshire area. Details for traders and performers can be found at bingleymusiclive.com
