Colin Todd accused City of going soft after a fourth straight league loss dropped them further down the table.

Bogey side Oldham inflicted more misery with two late goals from Chris Porter at Boundary Park.

And loan signing Tommy Black made a nightmare start when he was hauled off after just 35 minutes.

It is now nearly two months since City last won in League One and they have picked up only one point from a possible 18.

It was Oldham's fifth win on the trot over the Bantams and Todd warned his team that they have to toughen up.

He said: "We have to be man enough to match the opposition when they have got the ball. We made it too easy for them to hurt us.

"It's great when everything's going for us and we're not a bad side on the ball. But we do not work hard enough collectively to get it back and teams are making us pay.

"We can't hide the fact we're in a slump. There is no use papering over the cracks because it's there for everyone to see.

"We talk about it every week - we can't get that consistency. You get the tonic from beating Crewe and then we play like this and never look like producing.

"They scored their goals late but we can't argue because 0-0 might have been an injustice. We couldn't stem the tide and when we did get in their half, the ball always came back too quickly.

"I'm the one who takes all the flak as manager when the results are bad. But those players have to understand that the game has another side and you have to be physically strong to get round the ball and help each other to win it back."

Winger Black, playing only his second senior game of the season after joining from Crystal Palace, looked woefully ring-rusty and it was no surprise when Jermaine Johnson came on.

Todd had left him out because he thought the Jamaican would be tired after his international duties.
