Students got a taste of the legal profession when they took part in a mock trial.
Pupils from Crawshaw School, Pudsey, battled through the snow to the local Town Hall to play out their first ‘trial’, which was developed by Pudsey Legal, in conjunction with Ahead Partnership, Leeds.
It concerned the theft of video games with two defendants in the dock, a Mr Joe Bloggs and a Mr Sam Smith. Local councillor Mick Coulson, who is also a governor at the school, played the role of the judge.
The court heard evidence from witnesses, played by the students. The prosecution and defence barristers examined them.
Andrew Cummings, Director at Pudsey Legal, said: “The prosecution team’s cross-examination of Bloggs had the entire courtroom on the edge of their seats as the barrister fired an arsenal of questions at the young man.”
