The headteacher of Aire View Primary School in Silsden has said she is “looking forward to a new challenge” now Bradford Council has voted to increase pupil numbers.

Currently the school has a capacity for 238 pupils, but at an executive meeting last week, councillors voted to increase that capacity to 270.

The published admissions numbers, which dictate how many children the school can take on each year, will rise from 75 to 90. The expansion in spaces will be accompanied by an expansion of the school building.

Headteacher Vicky Bottomley said: “We are looking forward to a new challenge in terms of increasing capacity as we are the only infant school in Silsden and we are pleased to be able to offer places for the local children who need it.”

The changes will come into effect in September 2014.
