A film about an assassin and his young son hiding out in a rural idyll has been given the green light by Creative England, BFI Film Fund and BBC Films.

The thriller, from Ilkley-based director Martin Radich and producer Finlay Pretsell, is the first film to be taken into production from the iFeatures2 development slate announced last October.

Norfolk is Martin’s second film, following his low budget debut Crack Willow in 2008. It marks the first collaboration between the BAFTA-nominated writer/director and Glasgow-based Finlay.

In the film, the assassin’s unspeakable past starts to catch up with him and two very different worlds collide, forcing him to confront what is right and what is wrong in order to protect his family's future.

Tristan Goligher, iFeatures2 executive producer says: “Martin is one of the most original film makers in the UK today. Norfolk shows all the individuality and humanity of his previous work, while also stepping into new territory. The landscape of the Norfolk broads will serve Martin's vision for this unique, violent and allegorical tale.”
