Marsden-based Mikron theatre company is going on tour, with the company’s four actor/musicians travelling by narrowboat.

The two new plays require the actors to play multiple roles and perform specially-written songs.

The first is Don’t Shoot The Messenger! a whistle-stop tour of the story of the postal service which starts with the hold-up of a post office in Marsden, and romps through the history of communication.

Beyond The Veil is a crime thriller with a sting in the tail. When Detective Starkey investigates a murder on Thistledale Allotments, he learns a whole lot about bees, beekeeping and all things apicultural. The show, about “hives, honey and homicide”, will be performed on allotment sites.

Artistic director Marianne McNamara says: “We take theatre to the heart of communities and perform wherever people want us. You’ll find us in pubs, fields, boatyards, village greens, inside tunnels and allotments. You name it, we play there!”
