A quick-thinking neighbour saved a flat in Liversedge from serious damage yesterday. The occupier had gone out and left an electric hob on. Some papers left next to it started smouldering and set off a smoke alarm. A neighbour called the firefighters who forced entry to the flat on Halifax Road at about 5.30pm.
