A singing group for people with learning and physical disabilities, which received £500 from the Lord Mayor of Bradford’s appeal, is preparing for its first concert.

Called Sing from the Heart, the group is supported by Bradford Disability Advice.

“We are now 15-strong,” said Maralyn Adey who helps to run the group. “We sing rock, pop, musical numbers and anything in between as a group, duets and solos.

“We don’t just sing, we learn too – about breathing properly, forming words, how to warm up and performing.”

“We have already got our first gig lined up, at Disability Rocks at Nell Bank Centre, Ilkley, on Saturday, June 8. Tickets will be on sale soon.”

The group meets every Friday at the Kala Sangam Centre, St Peter's House, Bradford. Anyone interested can contact Mrs Adey on 07770 882404.
