Parish and town councils have agreed to changes in their precepts ranging from zero to as much as 73 per cent in Keighley.
The precepts for those living in parish or town council areas in an average band D property for 2013/14, are as follows:
- Addingham – £25.00
- Baildon – £15.32;
- Burley – £12.76;
- Clayton – £11.92;
- Cullingworth – £13.19;
- Denholme – £17.37;
- Harden – £10.00;
- Haworth, Crossroads and Stanbury – £20.00;
- Ilkley – £19.60; l
- Keighley – £24.94;
- Menston – £8.00;
- Oxenhope – £15.16;
- Sandy Lane – £18.00;
- Silsden – £17.66;
- Steeton – £28.75;
- Wilsden – £11.05;
- Wrose – £7.50.
The massive increase in the amount levied by Keighley Town Council, which will be added to the council tax bill from Bradford Council for all those living in Keighley, was said by councillors to be a reluctant response to Government policy and the need to support the loss-making Keighley Civic Centre.
