A 22-year-old man who produced a knife in Asda in Shipley has been warned by a judge to expect a prison sentence.
Leon Fenton, of South Down Road, Baildon, admitted stealing a sandwich, crisps and a bottle of alcohol from the supermarket on October 16 last year.
Fenton, who is in custody, also pleaded guilty to affray and to having an offensive weapon in Asda and outside the store when he appeared at Bradford Crown Court today.
Prosecutor Caroline Wigin said he was involved in an incident that began in the supermarket and ended with a confrontation with police officers in the street.
Fenton’s barrister, Simon Myers, asked for an updated probation service report.
Judge Colin Burn adjourned the case until March 28.
He warned Fenton: “I have to tell you that it is very likely that the sentence is going to be a custodial one.”
