Former Yorkshirewoman of the Year Yvonne Oliver has made it through to the “boot camp” stage of a Comic Relief competition to find new stand-up comedians.
The 60-year-old Bradford drugs counsellor and community champion will join 400 hopefuls in Sheffield tomorrow where they will be tutored for greatness by Dave Spikey, of TV’s Phoenix Nights fame.
Yvonne stepped up to the mike at a BBC event in the city’s Kirkgate centre last Thursday.
“It was my first time and I loved it.
“I’m really looking forward to going to Sheffield and will let you know how it goes,” Yvonne said.
Winners of the “Stand up if you dare” competition will play a part in Red Nose Day on Friday, March 15.
