A new road in Thornton will be named after a late councillor who served his community for decades, it has been confirmed.
One of the roads in the new 65-house development at Old Road will be called Buffham Pastures as a sign of respect to Councillor John Buffham, pictured, who was born in the village and served the area on both Bradford City Council and its successor Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
As reported previously in the Telegraph & Argus, the idea came from Councillor Valerie Binney, who currently serves the Thornton and Allerton ward.
At its latest meeting, the Bradford West area committee approved the plan.
As well as his council work, Coun Buffham was heavily involved in the local church and was president of the local branch of the British Legion.
